This 5th November (Saturday), FriedChillies will be bringing 40 of the best nasi lemak sellers from Klang Valley, Ipoh, Melaka, Negeri Sembilan and Johor to TM Convention Centre, Bangsar to the best food event in town…. I Eat Nasi Lemak 2016!
” The Worlds Biggest Nasi Lemak Event is Happening! “
After months of incognito reviewing hundreds of nasi lemak nationwide (almost), we have shortlisted 40 of our favourites for this year. To all nasi lemak fans out there, this is for you. Entrance is FREE and everyone is invited so share this event with your friends and families for a truly awesome Malaysian food event under one roof. We will be releasing more information in days to come including our 40 I Eat Nasi Lemak Heroes, but here’s some places we are excited to tell you now. (Update : Top 40 #heroes 2016 )
We have more southern nasi lemak places this year (coz they do their nasi lemak different so we were curious). There’s Cik Chom Batu Pahat with nasi lemak Beras Siam layered with nasi lemak pandan and served with siakap goreng & a slice of apple because it goes with it, there’s Habib at Bukit Pasir who serves nasi lemak with sup tauhu (with a lodeh’like taste), there’s Ujong Pasir near the Portugese Settlement with awesome rendang ayam and udang kunyit. At nearby Batang Berjuntai, we have Kak Pah with its hautingly sedap Ayam Masak Sambal Hijau NL. Up north, there’s Pendekar Mustar (& he is related to the P. Ramlee Pendekar Mustar character) with surprisingly good nasi lemak with Assam Pedas Salmon. And of course, some of our returning #ieatnasilemak #heroes Warung Rindu with Fried Quails, Village Park with awesome ayam goreng, RA with limited edition paru goreng, Tanglin with its institutional lauks and a new heroes this year such as Mak Wanjo in Kampung Baru and Warung SinarNor with its wood fire cooked nasi lemaks. The social entreprise that #ieatnasilemak is supporting this year is The Nasi Lemak Project. They teach urban poor families how to make nasi lemak, then buys from them consistently… slowly taking them out of poverty in stage.
Top 3 Things you should know about I Eat Nasi Lemak this year.
1. Buy coupons & Have Fun Eating.
It’s the same as the previous time. All nasi lemak & drink transactions are via official I Eat Nasi Lemak coupons. You can buy these coupons at the coupon counter at the event or at selected I Eat Nasi Lemak hero locations D’Cengkih TTDI, Nasi Lemak Lesung Batu Putra Heights, Ujang Corner Greenwood, Warung Rindu Pak Ya Pantai Dalam, Nasi Lemak Suri, Jln 223, Nasi Lemak Tanglin KL, Nasi Lemak Wanjor Kg Baru, Nasi Lemak RA Jln Raja Abdullah KL.
One Booklet is RM10 and contains 5 coupons. Here’s the fun bit. We have negotiated that all nasi lemak and lauk portions are tasting sizes. So theoretically, you can taste tens of different nasi lemaks if you are really hungry and have bought enough coupons. Coupon locations will be announced here soon. Alternatively, you can also call our office to reserve booklets (Meen at 03-77106809 during FriedChillies office hours.)
2. We have got 40 of the best nasi lemak vendors in one location!
The official #ieatnasilemak #heroes list of 40 is here! Thirty from Klang Valley and 10 from Out of State (Outstation). That’s the plan.
3. I Eat Nasi Lemak is at the Same Location as the Last Time.
