Introducing the Nasi Lemak Heroes…
Nasi Lemak Angah
This Sentul staple has been part of I Eat Nasi Lemak since the beginning. Sweet spicy sambal, aromatic rice, crispy ikan bilis and peanuts come together in a pack of Nasi Lemak that warrants multiple visits, Angah is a crowd favourite due to their tasty array of lauks, with options like Ayam Goreng Berempah with a side of Masak Merah gravy if you like it saucy, perfectly spiced Sambal Kerang and melty Sambal Sotong, you are spoilt for choice when it comes to what to pair with your plate of rice. A unique addition in their menu is the addictively good Cendawan Goreng, fried with a crunchy exterior, it gives a nice textural bite to your overall meal.
Nasi Lemak Burung Hantu
A new entry in our I Eat Nasi Lemak line-up, Nasi Lemak Burung Hantu has gained quite a following after its debut. Known for their fried Ayam Rempah and chilli-rich sambal, Burung Hantu is a popular option for night-owls (hence the name) as their opening hours do go past midnight. But now at this event, early risers can also try Burung Hantu because they will be setting up shop at Subang Parc all-day, from breakfast till dinner. Their most famous offering is their Ayam Goreng, hefty chicken parts marinated in turmeric, the subtle flavours goes well with their spicy sambal. Burung Hantu’s Paru Berlado has a bit of chew with a hint of sweetness and their Rendang Daging has tons of daun kunyit for an aromatic addition to your spoonful of rice. If you want seafood as a side you can opt for their Sambal Kerang or Sambal Sotong. We also like their extra crunchy ikan bilis.
Nasi Lemak Suri
It is no surprise that Nasi Lemak Suri is the top pick at the Selera 223 food court since it has been around for three generations and they only close for 3 days out of the whole year. That is how dedicated they are to providing nasi lemak to their patrons! At Suri, you will get nasi lemak bungkus, individually wrapped in banana leaf which is perfect for portion control. If you like sambal with tons of chillies, Suri is the one because they don’t shy away when it comes to serving you heat. As for lauks, try their golden-fried Ayam Goreng with extra kerak or their Sambal Tempe Kentang, so good that you can even eat it on its own as snacks. Other much-loved options are Ayam Rendang, Daging Rendang, Paru Goreng and Sambal Sotong.
Nasi Lemak Tanglin
Operating since 1948, fans of old school slightly tangy sambal would like Nasi Lemak Tanglin. They serve Sambal Sotong flavoured with crushed peanuts, for a rich nutty taste that balances well with spicy chillies. The lengthy process in preparing their rice includes steaming and drying their rice even before they add in the santan, this creates rice with less starch and better texture. Their Rendang Daging features tender chunks of beef cooked Masak Hitam style with tons of lemongrass, also try their Ayam Bali, a rendang dish that is cooked in aromatics and richly blended spices. A family business that has spanned generations, Tanglin is one of KL’s nasi lemak institutions with a legion of loyal fans.
Nasi Lemak Ujang Corner
If sambal is the heart of Nasi Lemak, the rice is its soul. The amount of care Nasi Lemak Ujang Corner puts in preparing their rice is what makes their offering a soulful choice. Twice steamed to create the fragrant, crumbly rice that acts as an ideal vessel for sambal and lauk, Ujang has been around for more than 30 years and it is reflected in the quality of their dishes. Their sambal is thick with a nice tinge of heat and their rice is amazing, to make it even better, pair them with the jellylike Sambal Sotong or glistening fried Paru Berlada for a satisfying meal. Their Ayam Goreng Berlada is also one of their menu’s bestseller.
Introducing the Breakfast Teh Tarik & Roti Canai Legends…
Nasi Kandar Pelita, KLCC
Learn more about two of Malaysia’s breakfast staple at Pelita’s Teh Tarik and Roti Canai live sessions at the event. You can also check out their booth as Pelita offers Mamak-style Nasi Lemak with a side of Ayam Goreng, roti canai with a medley of kuah campur, dalca & sambal ikan bilis and of course, order their frothy Teh Tarik that is expertly pulled as the ideal beverage. We also recommend their Ayam Cincang if you want to bulk up your roti canai meal.
Hameediyah Bukit Bintang
Well known for their Nasi Kandar, Hameediyah comes in for their great teh tarik. A business that has been around for seven generations, Hameediyah has multiple branches across the Klang Valley and now they are coming to Subang Parc to serve you breakfast. Eat your roti canai with their delicious option of curries, our pick is their kuah kambing, dark with a good level of heat to fuel your day. Wash it all down with a cup of their old school teh tarik.
