Daging Goreng Kunyit

This is an office lunch favourite and budget meal. Tender pieces of turmeric fried beef with veggies and chillies. Enjoy it with hot rice and a douse of kicap manis. Simple yet so tasty. Yum!

    1. 300g beef, sliced
    1. ¼ tsp. turmeric powder
    1. ½ – 1 cup water
    1. ¼ tsp. salt
    1. 3 tbsp. oil
    1. ½ onion, sliced
    1. 1 red chilli, sliced
    1. 2 long beans, sliced
    1. ¼ tsp. sugar


1. Marinate beef slices with turmeric powder for 10 minutes. Then simmer with a lid on until beef is tender and water has dried up. Season with salt.

2. Leaving the beef in the pot, add in oil and wait till it starts sautéing. Then add in onions, chillies and long beans. Cook until veggies are tender. It should be dry.

3 . Season with sugar and a little more salt to taste. Serve with hot rice and kicap manis.


Don’t cut beef too thick because it will take longer for it to tenderize Make sure beef is really tender before adding oil to fry it. Or else it will stay rubbery and tough.
