There’s actually hidden world of incredible homegrown seafood joints waiting to be discovered in KL & PJ! Places where the flavours are bold, the portions generous & the atmosphere truly unique.

But fret no more, fellow seafood lovers! It’s now time to reveal 11 of the 15 hidden gems that will serve up the tastiest, most delicious catches at the #SeaFF2024 fest curated by FriedChillies, of course. Tak Sedap, tak boleh masuk! You know us, right?

Grill Haven – Bukit Damansara

Ebi Rolls, Ebi Haven & more
First up, we have Grill Haven – local legends who have mastered the art of small bites and sliders. Their signature seafood rolls (ebi haven, ebi mentai) have made them famous. Shrimps mixed into their very own special sauce created just for the ebi. Spooned into their buttered and toasted roll with a sprinkle of paprika and spring onion. (add a squeeze of lemon for an extra boost of flavour!) Bursting with flavour in every bite!

Kingu Kongu – Chow Kit

For a taste of Japan’s vibrant seafood izakaya scene, head to Kingu Kongu’s booth. They offer a great Japanese culinary experience, with a delectable selection of small plates showcasing the freshest seafood catches. Tip for this fest : Go for their special Sashimi with Wonton Skin Pizza. Its wonton cracker with assorted sashimi, garlic aioli, tobiko & cheese. Slurp! This will be a fest hit!

CWTCH Fish & Chips – Berjaya Times Square

Don’t be fooled by Cwtch Fish & Chips’ casual kiosk style – David from CTWCH delivers great-quality taste in every bite. For this fest, they will be concentrating on their Perch based Fish & Chips (at a very special price) is encased in a crispy, golden batter and served with fluffy chips, lemon & tangy tartare sauce. But thats not all, they collab’ed with Chef Fazley Yaakub to come up with a lemak cili api sauce that works with the fish! Yup, we tried and its good!

Penang Oyster Park, Balik Pulau Penang

So you know that we Malaysian have it’s own oyster farm? And its world class? After 13 years of research, POP are bringing their malaysian bred oysters for everyone to try & mussels too. This third generation is plump, has several taste levels and leaves a good aftertaste. Fun Fact : Great tasting oysters are not supposed to be too big! We believe this one below is their Gold Goin species. You can see that it even looks like a “gold coin”. A little but briny at first but leaves a great umami & sweet aftertaste. World class this one! Straight from the sea waters of Penang right to your tummy! Prices will definitely walley friendly for these lovely homegrown oysters. #sapotlokal

Ikan Bakar Bellamy – Kuala Lumpur

These street thai fest sellers are pros in seafood. You must try their sotong bakar dishes! Absolutely tasty with so much flavour. They will also be bringing their new creation to the fest – Kerabu Maggi Oyster and Kerabu Maggi Sotong that is guaranteed to please.

Sushika, Festival Special

Prawn Tempura Maki, Unagi Maki & more.
Sushika serves up their legendary affordable Japanese maki that will leave you wanting more. Crispy tempura prawns nestled in perfectly seasoned sushi rice for their Prawn Tempura Maki. Don’t forget the succulent grilled glazed unagi with a rich, savory sauce, all rolled up in a sheet of rice for their Unagi Maki.

Memang sedap especially when the batter is a secret blend of local batter that just works with the fish. Top Catch is a paradise for seafood lovers who appreciate artisanal seafood joints. They source the finest, freshest catches serving up incredible fish & chips, fried oyster & fresh seafood bowls that will transport your senses to the heart of the ocean. These Port Dickson prawn farmers are bringing fresh udang galah prawns harvested straight from the farm and making an udang galah pasta from it. Udang Galah will be grilled at the fest so that you seafood lovers can experience the authentic taste of thes Malaysian Giant Prawns, reimagined in a pasta dish. Since their vision is to make udang galah affordable to everyone…you’d be surprised at how many you can eat from their booth come this weekend!

Ombak Kitchen, Bangsar

Ombak Kitchen, a culinary treasure in Bangsar, offers a Cajun dining experience that delights seafood lovers with its ocean-fresh delicacies They are famous for the seafood spreads with prawns, squid and more coated in their legendary cajun sauce.
