Good biriyani is hard to find in Klang Valley. The usual hangout for nasi biriyani is either at a mamak or perhaps at a speciality biriyani place. Sometimes, its either a hit or miss, right? But we found one, in SS15 Subang Jaya that tasted absolutely delicious, homemade and deserves a well-written review.
“Get it Before it’s Gone! ”
Liza sells her nasi biriyani, pilau rice and capati just outside her corner house at SS15, at a makeshift stall. Located at the intersection of SS15/5B and SS15/5G, look out for a small humble hut with plenty of handwritten signs on the pagar.
The nasi biriyani is absolutely tasty, made with long grain rice and what we suspect biriyani spices from Pakistan which makes the taste different from what’s out there in the typical restaurants.
Cooked in a big stainless steel pot, once you open the lid… you can absolutely smell the whiff of aromatic spices mixed with fried onions, shallots, coriander and chili coming from the pot. Smells are free by the way.. but be warned.. that one whiff of this… you’d be hooked.
We like the taste, a nice balance that comes from expertly cooked rice and it definitely has the homemade, honest taste to it. Also, absolutely love… love… love.. the whole green chili pepper that is cooked with the dish. Pedas fans will love this.
You can’t eat there but need to tapau back. Liza’s stall also does nasi lemak, ayam goreng, some kuihs, capati and nasi pilau but everytime we come back incognito to attempt other things.. we end up with the biriyani. It’s that good.
Since this is (still) a homebase business.. opening times can be erratic. Best bet to come is between 3pm to 5pm 12pm (lunchtime) daily except for Sundays (maybe). Biriyani may not be available everyday but Fridays & Saturdays are safe days for this. At this time of post, price for Lisa’s wonderful biriyani… RM6!
