KL got a full-on flavor earthquake and we loved every second of it. Makan Lejen x Keretapi Sarong at Raintree TRX was everything we promised: sarong-clad crowds, proper makan heritage, and a whole lot of “Fuhhh, sedaplah!” Energy was crazy — roughly 25,000+ of you showed up, packed the lawns and food lanes, and made the place buzz like pasar malam on steroids. Thank you for turning up, makan hard, and making the day feel like one big makan family.

The line-up? Legit lejens!
We brought 10 proper makan legends together in one spot — no hype, only real sedap eats:

Hameediyah — century-old nasi kandar vibes plus the exclusive Mini Murtabak (rare treat, finished fast).
QuackTeow — charcoal CKT with duck egg = wok-hei heaven.

Nasi Lemak Angah — pandan rice, sotong sambal & paru that bites
and more! Mok Teh (Nasi Dagang) • Salted (Laksa Sarawak) • D’Famous Zul (Mee Kari) • Lucky Kong (Salmon Mentai vibes) • Kaw Kaw Burger • Ikan Bakar Seri Melaka • Ayam Gepuk Top Global — all dishing their signature best and making queues a proper thing of joy.
And our supporting the Lejens? They brought the rest of the party — DeLiacious, Babarittos, Tauhu Begedil Bam Bam, Minah Satay, Kazen Kitchen, and Walaoweh Dumplings. Variety was mad. Something for every perut and mood.

Activities That Made The Day Extra Spicy
This wasn’t just eating — it was a whole experience:

Saji Booth — the place was packed. Kombo RM10/RM20 flew off the table, the creative photo corner had everyone posing like makan influencers, and the game station gave away mystery gifts non-stop. Product samplings? Yup — more than a few new fans left the booth with Saji goodies. Big love to Saji for being our Penaja Minyak Masak Utama.

Kelem Gula Apong — survey → goodie bag, Happy Hour RM2 ice cream (queue confirmed), and the Sandwich Man roaming the grounds with treasure-hunt vibes.

Hameediyah Selfie Challenge — pose with Mamu, hashtag, and walk away with RM10 voucher. Mini murtabak fans, you made it iconic.

General vibes — live beats, buskers, cheeky merch, info board scribbles, and people writing love letters to their favourite stalls. The “Info Board” was full of jokes, recommendations, and a lot of “Don’t miss Angah!” notes.
Best bits we’ll remember
Watching strangers argue (lovingly) over whose plate was better.
The sound of charcoal sizzles, sambal frying, and laughter all at once.

People actually following the checklist, finding the stalls, doing the selfie challenges, and leaving with full bellies and wider smiles.
Thanks & big ups
Massive thank you to everyone who came, ate, and made it lejen. Big shoutout to:

Saji — not just a sponsor but a partner in the kitchen. Your booth was one of the happiest corners of the fest.
Kelem – For collaborating on the Gula Apong Ice Cream. Great match for the foods!
Locco, Keretapi Sarong crew, and every volunteer who kept things smooth and fun.
Hameediyah and all our vendor Lejens for bringing heritage on plates.
You came hungry, you left happy — and that’s what we wanted.
We’ll be back with more Lejens, more rare dishes, and more of that local pride. Follow us @friedchillies for the behind-the-scenes reels, vendor spotlights, and the “where to next” rumors (we love a good rumor).
Until next time — sarong ready, appetite ready.
