Buckle up, food lovers, because we’re sharing some of our favorite hidden gems and great food around the Sungai Besi – Seremban route for delectable buka puasa and sahur finds. This will surprise you!

Serdang Lay-By Southbound

Selera Batu Pahat (Stall 16) : Hidden Gem! Puyuh Goreng with Nasi Lemak – Elevate your nasi lemak game with Selera Batu Pahat’s unique offering: crispy fried quail perched atop their fragrant coconut rice. Only a of the few places in KL that you can get it & this R&R stop is one of the location.

Fruits Stalls (Various) : We think one of the fresh fruits sold in an R&R is at this humble layover. It is gift grade. From mangoes, guava and even kiwi, these stalls have them all. We normally stop here to stock up with Mak Bee rojak sauce on the side.

Masakan Pantai Timur (Stall 15): Nasi Berlauk/Kuih Pek Nga – Take a ‘trip’ to Kelantan with Pantai Timur’s authentic nasi berlauk & nasi kerabu – flavorful rice served with various accompaniments. If you are lucky, their Pek Nga station will be open and busy serving you a great kuih from the east coast.

Nilai R&R Southbound

Nasi Lomak Manjo (Stall 8): Nasi Lemak Sambal Sotong – This nasi lemak stall will have long queue’s during weekends and rightly so, as Nasi Lomak Manjo takes it to the next level with their signature sambal sotong. Fresh squid cooked in a rich, spicy sambal makes this nasi lemak truly unforgettable.

Nasi Tambah (Stall 6): Lomak Cili Api/ Rebung – Nasi Tambah offers ‘lomak’ cili api for a classic taste. We love their unique lomak selections with rebung or daging salai which is as authentic as it can get for a Negeri Sembilan dish.

Seremban R&R Southbound

Anugerah (Stall 07): Cucur Udang (Prawn Fritters) – Kick-off your iftar with these crispy, golden cucur udang bursting with fresh, succulent prawns. The tauhu sumbat is also tasty and we just love this cucur/tauhu combo. The perfect appetizer to tantalize your taste buds. Don’t forget the chili sauce!

Pinggiran Highway (Stall 08): Briyani Ayam Masak Merah – Aromatic, fluffy rice infused with fragrant spices and topped with tender, flavorful ayam masak merah. This briyani is a “Malay” version so it slant’s more towards nasi minyak. But it’s a true crowd-pleaser for both buka puasa and sahur.

Western & Satay (Stall 04): Nasi Harimau Menangis – Spice things up with Western & Satay’s smoky grilled chicken, or opt for their Nasi Harimau Menangis – A simple dish but with succulent soft melt in your mouth beef.

Kodai Hijau (Stall S10): Asam Pedas/ Patin Masak Cili Api – These guys are “lemak cili api” masters. For those who love a good kick, Kodai Hijau’s patin masak cili api are guaranteed to tantalize your taste buds. Their selection of lemak cili api’s are extensive. But don’t also forget their assam pedas pari with ulam and sambal belacan!

Seremban R&R Northbound

Anugerah (Stall 3): Mee Sup Ayam – Simple yellow noodles and tender chicken slices are bathed in a fragrant chicken broth, then garnished with daun sup, spring onions, and taugeh for a delightful and satisfying dish. Don’t forget their Yong Tau Foo selections as well. This is pure comfort food that will warm your soul and leave you wanting more.

Belanga (Stall 5): Masakan Kampung – Sometimes, simple is simply better. Belanga’s “air tangan” elevates a seemingly basic meal of white rice, fried chicken, a classic Malay-style curry, and sayur kobis into a flavor explosion. Food lovers, this is your cue to “tambah lauk” (add more dishes) because trust us, you’ll want to savor every bite. This is also a great option for takeaway.

Curry House (Stall 9): Economy Rice – We put this humble little stall in as they sell simple homemade lauks & dishes that are basic yet tasty. Choose from a variety of curries and gravies (we love the Ayam Masak Lemak) with a side dish. Ideal for some home-cooked bungkus that will not break your wallet.

Haza Rendang (Side Stall): This little side stall is a definite gem for lemang, ketupat pallas and rendang tuk lovers. We were surprised to find their lemang soft & tasty whilst the rendang tuk is simply delicious, complementing the lemang. These is not only kind that you bungkus and eat at home, but suitable also as food gift to neighbours, friends and family as well.

Nilai R&R Northbound

Pau Noram @ Minuman (Stall 13) : This stall hides a great tasting pau that is tasty, soft and above average from some of the ones we have tried. We ta-pau’ed the daging, ayam and kacang hitam which we found out were crowd favourites as well. Love the flavourful fillings. Recommended!

Nasi Ayam Gemas Along (Stall 2) : We stumbled upon a hidden gem at this Nilai R&R. The chicken is unlike any other – succulent and boasting a vibrant red hue. The rice is subtly flavored, but the real star of the show is the chili sauce, a secret weapon that takes this humble dish to a whole new level. Must eat with the chili sambal!

So that’s the entire circuit in one round. Sungai Besi – Seremban and back! Remember, these are just a taste of the amazing food options that await you at PLUS R&R’s south of Klang Valley.

So avoid the bazaar crowds, jams and arrive back home on time. Stay tuned for Part II (Dengkil, Rawang, Sungai Buluh Overhead Bridge) of our food guide, where we’ll explore more must-try R&R’s along the rest of your journey!
